The face behind the studio
Let me introduce myself! My name is Brenda, I’m 29 years old, and I’m an artist from Belgium. As a child, I always loved drawing, but I never really did anything with it. In August 2017, on a spur of the moment, I went to Action to buy paint, canvases, and brushes, and that's when I discovered my passion for painting.

In 2023, I started tattooing, which for me is the definition of the perfect job! Before finding this new passion, I was a French and IT teacher at a high school.

At home, I have two dogs and two cats, whom I love dearly. My fiancé is a sports masseur, which comes in very handy due to the shrimp-like positions I often find myself in while tattooing. :-)
In my free time (which is becoming less and less), I enjoy staying active. If it’s not volleyball or beach volleyball, you’ll probably find me running with one of my dogs.

Art
In terms of art, I don't stick to just one medium and one technique; I'm a bit all-round. I get "bored" very quickly and need to alternate my mediums. Therefore, I often switch between acrylic paint, oil paint, watercolor, and making drawings with colored pencils and markers to keep myself constantly challenged.
I have created many things in different styles, but the subjects I always return to are portraits of people, animals, abstract pieces, and flowers/bouquets. These are truly my favorite subjects for artworks, but I also really enjoy making things that are completely outside my comfort zone. When something like that turns out well, I enjoy it twice as much! At the moment, I am focusing a lot on making (pet) portraits in watercolor and gouache, and wild animals in acrylic paint. Delivering high-quality work and maintaining good communication are my top priorities when working with my clients. I want them to end up with something they wholeheartedly love and will cherish and carry with them forever.

Tattoos
In 2022, I experienced a burnout. It was an extremely tough period and it made me realize that something in my life had to change and that I couldn't continue as I was. As soon as I had the energy (both physical and mental), I needed to look for a new challenge.

In May 2023, I started tattooing, which seemed like a logical extension of my art career. This opportunity actually came to me by chance. I gained my first experiences in a tattoo shop. After a lot of practice on artificial skin, my fiancé, Roy, became my first "victim"! Small tattoos eventually got larger, simple designs got more intricate, and the needles got finer and finer. The tattoo shop ultimately became my own home studio, where I now work by appointment.

I believe that you are never done learning and that you can continue to innovate and progress throughout your life. This idea is something I carry with me into tattooing. It's incredibly rewarding to see the progress I've made so far, and I hope to look back at my current tattoos with the same feeling in a few years. In any case, I find it incredibly enjoyable to work personally with people, hear their stories, and turn their ideas into lifelong artworks. This aspect keeps things varied for me and makes each tattoo interesting in its own way. Eventually, I would like to specialize in creating tattoos of animals and flowers.
